Changes to League 2
For this second half of the league, we have made some changes to the schedule and playing organisation. We’re trying these out, and will review for the third league of the year. We’re keen to ramp up the numbers of players and maximise use of pool time. We hope the changes will enable both new players and returning players to join this league.
Changes to timetable
The main change is that the 8:30pm slot is now back to game time for B grade, with A grade invited as well.
7:30pm – 8:00pm C-grade (B-grade players also welcome)
8:00pm – 8:30pm C-grade (B-grade players also welcome)
8:30pm – 9:00pm B/A grade game (C graders welcome if space)
9:00pm – 9:30pm B grade game (shallow pool) (A graders welcome for first half)
9:30pm – 10:00pm B-grade game (shallow pool)
9:15pm – 10:00pm A grade game (deep pool) ( B graders welcome but see discussion below)
C grade is now open to B grade players
There is space in the C-grade for several B grade players to come and play, with a focus on helping out with development of our C grade players.
Please remember C-grade is non-pushing, and non-C graders should sub off preferentially and leave C grade players on unless they choose to sub.
A grade players may also play if there is space, but non-shooting and with a focus on coaching/teaching from the water.
Please note anyone intending to play in the 7:30pm game should arrive earlier (suggest 7:50pm) to assist with getting the gear out from the container.
B grade is now open to A and C grade players
A-grade players are invited to join from 8:30-9:00 pm in the A/B slot, and for the first half of the 9:00pm – 9:30pm B-grade game. This is to extend available playing time for A graders. A graders may shoot goals. A and B players have equal priority for these slots.
C-graders are welcome if there are not 10 players on the pool at 8:30pm, and/or may play but should sub preferentially to the A/B grade players.
A-grade will include B grade players
A proviso is that B grade has priority over B players if not enough players for a full 5-a-side game in both pools. A grade will be made up to a minimum of 3-a-side, unless this takes B grade below 4-a side.
A-grade playing time
A-grade playing time is officially 9:15-10:00pm. However A-grade may often get on the water slightly sooner once pool staff have prepared the pool. Please do not get on the pool until Gemma/Michael/a committee member advises this is ok. Lane ropes and swimmers must be clear of the pool before kayakers get on.
Teams will continue to be formed on the night, as changing back to a team based draw is not feasible at this point in the league. We will however be looking at reviewing this for the third league.
If you have not yet registered or come to play in this current league, you can register for the second half of the league (7 playing sessions) for only $60!
First time players offer
Anyone joining the club gets their first night free!
For any new players or occasional players, the casual rate is $10 per night, and we are looking for players to be proactive paying this to Michael Beauchamp (referee). We prefer frequent players to register and pay for the league as a whole.
Hope to see you tonight
